Remembering Kathy
I had been doing a portrait of Kathy, a farm wife. She was weak from her
struggle with cancer and was mostly confined to bed. For her picture she
asked for assistance so she could sit with some degree of dignity in a chair next to the window.
When I
finished I went outside to look at the farm and see what else there
might be to photograph. I saw this flower struggling up behind a window
screen in an old shed. Now when I see this image I also think of
Kathy's struggle. She passed away a few months after I did her portrait.
