"Santa Salutes Those Who Serve Around the World"
by Franz Brown / John P Falstaff

Acrylic  30x24 inches

This was initially inspired by a desire to thank all the service women and men who serve in our armed forces. The first idea included a small mouse in a military uniform saluting with Santa and standing in his hand or shoulder. This first idea was explored some years ago. When I decided to start the painting the mouse was dropped in favor of a globe to signify both Santa’s worldwide service as well as the military’s work worldwide. Finally I felt it should honor all those who serve around the globe. I wanted there to be a sense of the globe floating. I had at first shown Asia with Iraq as the main element on the globe. I changed this to North and South America as more recognizable to the intended audience. The polar bear stands for the North Pole
